And as long as we're giving credit where it's due, I'll add that most of what I know about wrinkle paint and aluminum prep has came from Mike Hanz over the last 10 years or so.
I think I can take credit for the Duagloss 851 as a good etching cleaner though. And that brings me to two points I should have made about it before in that not just any aluminum wheel cleaner will do. Some are nothing more than heavy detergents. The only real clue on the Duragloss bottle is a warning label that says; Caution: Contains acid-Avoid contact with skin and eyes......
A cleaner with that kind of language should be an indication that it's the good stuff.
Of course you should always try it on a scrap piece before you use it on your prized possessions.
I also didn't mention that it's a good cleaner for aluminum that's to be left bare, as in 274N stuff. It gives the aluminum a surface finish very similar to some of the NIB original stuff that I have seen.
