G'gat list... my experiences with painting BC-348 , ARC-2. ARB's etc span
about a total of over 20 front panels and cases.
1. after getting panel off, strip old paint with paint remover.... methyl
-ethyl.
2. I've never seen undercoat on any of these panels .Only seen it on R-390A
panels .
3. clean with auto wax and grease remover.
4. I use VHT wrinkle ( made in USA) as used on auto rocker covers and comes
in a pressure pack. It's high temperature proof- no value on surplus
stuff-BUT for maximum hardness/durability, you have to bake it when sprayed
- 100C for an hour in the kitchen oven--- assuming ur about to settle the
divorce arrangements ,
5 SPRAYING... a couple of light coats, evenly spread does for a fine
wrinkle. Heavy coats make for a larger wrinkle.
With the raised lettering on BC-348, I take to the labelling with a
scalpel with a curved cutting edge and CAREFULLY scrape the letters.
It's a bit laborious but if you want it, you've got to do it. Don't leave
it too long as paint hardens overnite and increases the effort.
Photos of past efforts on request.
Cheers
