So... 

... my own 2 cents worth (inflation ya know).

I have used all three of USPS, UPS, FED-EX. Only one incident. UPS
dropped something on a mailer full of xtals for a fire dept. job. One
xtal was dented and broken. UPS had me call the manufacturer and reorder
the xtal. They paid for it, picked it up and delivered it to me.
Everybody has 'accidents'. What really counts is how they deal with
them.

I have been satisfied with the services from all three.
