I forgot to comment on UPS, but I agree with Dick.  UPS have priced 
themselves out of the market up to between 20 and 30 pounds.  Their local minimum 
for one pound averages about $12.50 actual (pay no attention to what their 
web site says).  We only use them for HAZMAT materials (mainly paint) and 
heavy items that won't fit into a Flat Rate box.
