John:

I normally use a little image program called ArcSoft Photo Studio which came with my Canon scanner, and it does negative reversal from a scanned image (.jpg) with one click. I checked the instructions on Paint Shop Pro, which I also have installed, and it will apparently do reversals also, but the reason I don't use it much appears here, the instuctions are so complicated, it would take a while to work out the process. Anyway, I suspect, based on a sample of 2, that most any good image processing program will do it. Probably Adobe would be the best, just based on their reputation.

By the generosity of a friend, I just received a copy of the Maintenance
Handbook for an AN/APT-5 & AN/APT-5A "Carpet" jammer (AN 16-30APT5-3; May
1945).

The copy is good, but is a negative (the text is white, the pages black).

Has anybody successfully made positive images from such a manual? If so, how?

Best,
-John
