Dave,
According to SHIPS 242A, RCA (Navy Contractor Code CRV) was the prime
contractor on RAK/RAL through RAK-7/RAL-7. Magnavox (CMX) was the prime
contractor of RAK-8/RAL-8. However, Andrea Radio Corp. (CND) made some of the
earlier models under subcontract to RCA.
As to differences between the receivers of RAK-7 and RAK-8, if the receiver
itself is CMX-46155 (and if Magnavox followed the rules) then it should be
identical except for nameplate to CRV-46155 of RAK-6 and CND-46155 of RAK-7.
I have the RAK-7/RAL-7 manual but unfortunately nothing on the -8.
