All -
What, "US did what Canada did"; was to donate to NATO.
The radio equipment that made it back to the states was flow or floated home for the most part.
Remember the domestic manufactures did not want any equipment returned from the theaters of war for a well founded fear that the surplus would kill their business. Heck we fought one and a half wars on the surplus form WWII, Korea and Vietnam; Not to mention the numerous brush fires of Belgium Congo, Cuba, Argentina to name a few.
