[Milsurplus] PP-4763A Power Supply Bridge Diodes

OK all you folks smarter than me:
The PP-4763A supply is supposed to be rated at 
24 volts 50 amps, with headroom for surge.

So how come it uses 1N1186 diodes in the bridge,
which are rated for only 35 amps?
 How does that work?  

The local surplus "candy store" has some 200-amp diodes 
in stock.  Think I'll put them in.
