"One of these equipments was mounted in a truck with a spare in a trailer.
When it looked as if the 101st Division was going to be surrounded, the
corps signal officer sent the truck towing the trailer into Bastogne. It
was
the last vehicle to enter the town before the Germans completed their
encirclement. The trailer was hit and destroyed. However the truck was.
undamaged and throughout the entire period until the division was
relieved, it had telephone and teletype communications with corps
headquarters entirely over this radio link."
"Electronic Industries", June 1945, "Multi-Channel Army Communications
Set".
Is this also discussed in the "green books". ( I don't have the set. )
BTW, I see a fullpage Collins promo ad showing the TCS. "Collins
Radio Equipped. ( 2 p's in "equipped, English not the most logical
language ). Photos of "Bomb Target Boat" ( dunno what that is),
LVT-4 ( would have thought SCR-620 FM set instead???), and
"Aircraft Rescue Boat".
