[Milsurplus] Even Worse

Hey we're talking tube amps and preamps here, not some hokee digital crap. That in itself makes it non-linear.
Tubes have a much better dynamic range, lower noise, and recovery time from clipping. So the only clock needed is the one to recover the phase shifts inherant in the power grid.Line lengths from the source to the user can vary as much as several inches on each line relative to nuetral and that could introduce all sorts of havoc at low frequencies as the out of phase 60~'s "beat" against each other.
The other answer to the problem would be to add a phase adjustment to one of the lines and then provide a service to come out to the end uses house to make periodic adjustments, for a fee of course. This item would have to be constructed of the finest NASA grade materials and capable of operation on the surface of, say, Jupiter or Saturn. The possibiliies boggle the mind............

Pretty much a consumer version of real digital studio gear.

It is desirable to use a central clock when you have a chain of digital recorders and multiple processors, or so I am told.

The New Busy think 9 to 5 is a cute idea. Combine multiple calendars with Hotmail. Get busy. =
