Hi Marty,

Good guess.  Hal Robinson's article in the AWA OTB, Vol. 30 No.3, says 
1933.  However he also says these were for "smaller naval vessels."  I 
suspect the Nevada, Arizona, and other capital ships had the 455 pound 
RAB superhets as the primary short-wave sets, and I believe there was an 
RAA for long-wave.
