I haven't heard anything from the ARRL.  There were rumors that they might ask for a band in the 72 MHz to 76 MHz segment.  However, that would not be compatible with the rest of the world which is now utilizing the 70.0 MHz to 70.5 MHz segment.

Also, I have a "hunch" that since the ARRL did not originate the proposal that they would be reluctant to "back it".  I may be wrong about this, but, my experience with that organization leads me to think that would be the case.
