My absolute favorite of the old processors was the National 8073 SC/MP
- the one with ther NIBL ROM built in. I had several of them
controlling an assortment of projects which is precisely what they
were designed for. Among other things, I had A-D & D-A converters
(mostly sampled out) and a few strip chart recorders picked up when
University of Pittsburgh had a yard sale. Nothing was safe for a
while, much to wife #1's distress on more than one occasion. While
other people were writing really neat apps etc, I was playing with
process control which I definitely favored.
Now I'd love to find some 8073-based machines and the pubs associated
with them and NIBL to play with again. Unfortunately, like so many
things, they've pretty much become extinct.
Best regards,
Michael, WH7HG
