[Milsurplus] A question of Value

When I first started collecting, the originality of the item dominated my
thinking about value. Working or not made no difference. Over time, I came to
feel that my time is an important factor in value--the more time I have to put
into it, the less value it is to me. So now "working well, badly or not at all"
makes a big difference to me. Generally, I stay away from anything I am going to
have to invest a pile of time into and I am willing to accept unoriginal
modifications and so forth as a compromise that protects my time.

Subject: [Milsurplus] A question of Value

G'day  all...

Question..1..if you were offered a BC-348 which was cosmetically OK but
showing its  age : was untouched electrically since the  day it was produced
and powers up, receives. but  reveals  possible component deterioration, and
then had to make the  choice between the  SAME receiver which had been
repaired  as required  and performs to original specs,

Question ..2. which one would you chose and which one  would command  the
greater value .

I rule out the rarity of the item  in this scenario and  take into account
that there are  collectors  and  collectors---- those that have to have one
of  everything irrespective, and those who prefer and /or  restore  to
operating  status.

Comments  as appropriate .

Cheers

Seasons  greetings to all.
