Probably equally inconsiderate to belong to a group or list where your
technology (or lack thereof) becomes the limiting factor for others.
More/most folks have kept pace with the technology and have fast
processors, high speed connections, and plenty of storage space. It
would be ridiculous for folks not to take advantage of the opportunity
to share high definition photos or other large files for fear that a
few folks might still be using dial up.

Sometimes you don't have a choice. I was in that boat myself after
moving south, but they came through here almost 2 years ago and added
high speed cable. Before that it was DSL or dial up via the phone
company. And I still know a few people who use cheap or free dial up
rather than spending the money for high speed or even DSL.

Funny how things change. I can clearly remember back in '96-'97 when I
had a 14.4 external modem with flashing LEDs and all, and thought I
was on the cutting edge of technology. Downloading a large file (a few
megs) could involve time to mow the lawn, make dinner, and maybe watch
the news as well before it *might* be finished downloading. Didn't
seem so bad, either. Pretty amazing, actually. Ten years ago I was
working as a sysprog and data storage admin with a 1.25 terabyte EMC
DASD farm which I thought was massive. A buddy recently picked up a
thumb drive and other external backup drive with that much total space
and more, for somewhere around $150.
