[Milsurplus] Kiska Evacuation

I was reading in "Naval History", Summer 1993, that some 5000 Japanese
troops loaded onto ships at Kiska in about one hour. That is a rate of close
to 80 per each minute. No wonder so many fine items of military equipment
were left behind. Even their personal arms- I would imagine at the loading
ramps, they were probably instructed to toss any and all impediments into
the water.
