[Milsurplus] Need info on Dynair SKY-515

These pieces of crap were an almost impossible nightmare
to work on when our Air Force radio shop at Tinker AFB, OK
had to try to keep them running in the late 70s.

They were used for navaids personnel to communicate with
flight check aircraft and even when they had been fixed,
they usually would not stay running for the duration of
their periodic usage. The switches were particularly
unreliable.

After I retired from the Air Force in 1981, I worked part-
time at a local ham store. I found those same lousy switches
in very low-end amplifiers made by MFJ. They were even
worse in that application.

It seems that MFJ has improved its quality in the past 30
years, but back then it was known as Missippi Foul Junk,
and some other non-polite (nasty) acronyms.

P.S. The FAA now uses Icom Airband HTs for that purpose.

Subject: [Milsurplus] Need info on Dynair SKY-515

I thought the manufacturer's name might help. I have googled
and so far have come up with just about nothing, sooo anything
someone has would be better than what I have which is 0.

Thanks again

Hi All,

I recently became the owner of one of these para-military
VHF radios (108-136 MHz). I can not find any information
on the web regarding it and could use some help on any
documentation on it. I am not even sure if it needs 12 or
24 VDC, although it kinda worked on 12 VDC, however from
years ago, I seem to remember that it took 2 12v batteries
to make up the needed 24v.

Well, if anyone has anything on these things, it would be
great to hear from you.

TIA
Bruce
