[Milsurplus] BC-639 Reciever..History?

The matching transmitter is indeed the BC-640, a monster set, 6' tall. 
Designed and built by Bendix early in WWI in order to communcate with 
aircraft, mainly at established bases.  Looks like it was designed by a 
bunch of hams, probably was.  At one time when I was young and stupid I 
bought 4 of them, still have one.  Many claimed that it generated gobs of 
TVI even when it was turned off.  Can supply more information if anyone is 
truly interested.
