[Milsurplus] Stranded or solid?

Hmmmmmmm.....
If the book recommends rounding off the end of the wire, could it be they 
were speaking about solid wire?  Rounding off  the end of stranded wire 
doesn't seem doable.
Must be from the days prior to Corona Dope or sumethin'.
