I only "knew" Marty by way of his many postings on the various radio 
reflectors over the years and always thought he'd be a neat guy to meet 
in person.  Two years ago I went to Dayton for the first time in ages 
and was wandering around in the middle of the day, everyone was pretty 
much kicking back, and I came across the guy with a couple of 
interesting radios.  So I stopped, and we got to talking and the thread 
of the conversation rambled all over the place on one topic after 
another until after about 15 minutes I thought it would be good to at 
least introduce myself.  As you've no doubt guess, it was Marty, and we 
immediately recognized each other from the internet and had a laugh 
about the "impersonal media".

I know he will be greatly missed by those who knew him well, as well as 
those of us who didn't, but would have liked to.
