[Milsurplus] PRC-74 newbie questions

A couple of PRC-74s turned up at the Peoria IL hamfest this past weekend 
at a reasonable price (w/o battery pack or accessories), so a buddy and 
I became new owners.  So far I've determined that mine is not working, 
but am hoping the problems are not too serious:

1.  Someone had already removed the battery connector and spliced on 
wires for 12 VDC, but there is no audio nor any meter indication when 
power is switched on.  The radios came from an estate and were thought 
to be working, but obviously this one isn't.  Both fuses are good.

2.  I'm anxious to dig in, but to troubleshoot it  I really need the 
manual that includes schematics - can anyone provide  TM-5820-590-35-1 
in electronic form?

3.  The Mhz selector switch will not mechanically go below 9 mhz.  It 
can be set to 11, 10, and 9 but hits a mechanical stop between 9 and 8 
mhz.  I can see a mechanism behind the panel - is the configuration of 
this mechanism documented in the above TM?
