[Milsurplus] Technical Radio T-50M CW Transmitter

I've had this little gem in my pile-o-stuff for years now and never come
across any information about it beyond the preliminary instruction manual.
It has a very elaborately painted front panel for a military set, complete
with plastic nomenclature tag. It uses an outboard power supply and was
apparently meant to be backpacked around for use with a gasoline generator.
The CW key uses an octal plug, too.

The only thing I could turn up online is a site called Electrojunk which has
three pictures:

Is anyone familiar with this rig? It's a MOPA design using 807s, strikes me
as a pre-war product when cost/materials weren't an option. I've never seen
another one and wonder if they were ever actually used?

Thanks -
