first civil war (1776) to see how results are coloured.
To put it in modern terms - "local terrorists aided by French insurgents 
attacked His Majesty's Forces" .
There was brutality on both sides especially with the assistance of the 
native tribes.
It is well documented what the victors did to the loyal civilian 
population after the war was over.
