I'm sorry.... I can't let this ancient LIE get by.
Those who conquer and crush a people by military force
get to write the history books, making themselves look like
rightious "liberators" and the crushed people, like they
"got what was coming to them." Then they get to
brain-wash the conquered for 150 years until
*they* believe it, too.
The subject of prisoner treatment during the
War for Southern Independance is far more complex
than the simplistic PAP feed to the lemmings.
God-awful incidents of sadism and callous neglect were
common on both sides of the line, and the invading power
had some singular advantages-
no one was burning their crops,
destroying their transportation,
bombarding their women and children and
burning the factories that made food and medicine available
to the general population, much less prisoners.
If you're going to damn one side or the other
in our unfortunate conflict, please take a moment
to read and study beyond the McHistory swill
dispensed in the system of mass mob and riot control
we call "American education."
D.S.
Don't even get me started on that tin-plated saint, Linclon.
