General TVI
When I was with the state of TN, we got more tvi complaints from our
agencies non-active or seldom used sites than those that were hopping
24/7. Same with me at my parent's old place -- never got a tvi
complaint when I was actually on the air, they all came when I wasn't
home, I was asleep, etc. If I put up or changed one of my antennas,
same thing.
When my old state agency had to replace a tower due to old age, as
soon as the new tower was built, the complaints came in right and
left. No antennas nor cable was installed on the tower during the
peak complaint period, though there was another peak after than
antennas and cable were installed - with no equipment connected.
Arrrggghhh!
The BC-640, on the other hand would spew harmonics and such all over
the place if not loaded properly -- as Robert said. Same goes with
much of the surplus gear from the period.
RTFM is *always* a good idea!
