Yes, THEY are.

They are experts in their field and in the case of the radio restorers:

They are technically competent and extremely familiar with all aspects of
working on specific equipment, including:

     Troubleshooting

     Repairs

     Alignment

     Knowing of and performing necessary modifications to
     improve reliability and/or reduce or prevent failures.

     All aspects of reconditioning, including restoring the electrical and
     mechanical workings and appearance to new or better than new condition.

They are recognized by the radio community as being experts in their fields
and "professional" restorers.  We (the radio community) grant them (and
deservedly so) that title.
 
Perhaps some of the rest of us could match their work in a technically
competent manner but even so we would not be considered to have done it
"professionally" by our community.

My profession is airline Captain. Johnson, Busch,Gordon are professional 
race car drivers, T Woods is a professional golfer, Mish, Ripple and 
others are professional radio restorers.
