Thank you in advance for all your suggestions to reduce the current draw. I'll begin today with replacing all the caps and report back to the list when I'm complete and with the results. By the way, the 150 MA current draw was with all tubes removed. 

Also, I appreciate the suggestion on replacing the 5W4 rectifier tube (it does get very hot) with a solid state device. Is there an off the shelf substitution or shall I just build a full wave rectifier on an octal base?
