[Milsurplus] URC-35?

The RT-618A/URC, R-1051, T-827 and AM-3007 are all part of the WRC-1 family.
The URC-35 was, to the best of my knowledge, never used in a tactical
situation due to it lack of reliability (too much packed into too
small of a package).
The RT-618 is a transceiver that put out about 100 mW.
It did drive the AM-3007 amplifier.
When I was in Navy MARS the directors received URC-35Bs new in the box.
I contacted the people that made them (name escapes me right now). I
was advised to drill as many holes in the amplifier/power supply
assembly as I could.
Without the holes, the amplifier had a very short life span. The
person that I spoke with was another MARS member working for the contractor.
At one time I wanted a R-1051 until I say how poorly it performed in
a RF rich environment. There is a very poor front end in the receiver.
It does use a tube in the front end to afford some EMP protection.
The R-390 will run rings around this receiver, in the hands of a
competent operator.
The R-1051 is a great appliance operator receiver. For some reason
you cannot select IF bandwidth separately from Mode. When you select
CW mode, you get the widest filter.
The RT-618 is basically a R-1051 and a T-827 in the same package.
Some modules are interchangeable.
I no longer have the documents for the WRC-1 group.
Someone just advertised that they had a manual for sale on either
boatanchors or milsurplus.
