Mike I believe the 542 was the match to the 12V 4 chan vhf E1143(?)
British set.  Have heard all British acft (Spits, Lancasters, etc)
remained 12v thruought the war

The 522 was 12V from the electrical get-go and it's PE-73(?) dyno
also had a 12vdc section to run all the relays & tube fil.s @ 12V
from the 28v supply

I've never seen a 542's dyno but bet it's same as 522's w/o
the 12V section.
