Well, it's unlikely that those early hams chopped up WW I radios. Among
other things, there weren't very many. Maybe they did parts consumer
radios, but not NIB gear. It's only by the accident of loads of excess
after WW II driving down the prices, that made mil gear unappreciated in
the late 40s through 60s.
