U.S. bomber airfields were guarded by 90mm guns radar-
directed, which would have been easily noticed by any
aircrews, and they could easily learn more by walking 
over and hobknobbing with the gun crews. From 
North Africa on, that means from the start.
"Radar #2" of May 1944 guesses German ground radars
at something like 3000 and monthly production in excess
of 100. It also quotes a German broadcast to the U.K.
boasting about German radio location effectiveness; 
The Berlin broadcast called radars "echolots".
