A _lot_ of those KWM-2 and KWM-2A got crushed-and-buried by bulldozers
at various military bases, according to a friend who was in charge of
training RVN troops in KWM-2/-2A maintenance and operations. This comes
as no surprise to me, since I saw R-390 and R-390A receivers being
thrown into a dumpster my last day at Osan AB, ROK, back in the fall
of 1969. They told me I was welcome to as many as I could carry. If I
hadn't already shipped my hold baggage the previous day, I'd have dome
my damnedest to get one in.
