There were a dozen or so KWS-1s bought by Navy around 1955 for surface
ship tests.  This on testimony fm a retired ham-admiral

Didn't know mating rx but above seems to address that

One of these 2.5mhz & 8mhz ship-band KWS-1s lives nearby - but alas no
Navy re-labeling
