The solution to the command set keying problem is a practice I have been following for years, build a modern external power supply with regulation and improved keying circuit’s external of the transmitter. The relay in the transmitter is for radio selection and not for keying the radio and originally the transmitter control was provided by the modulator system. Almost all of the radios I have operated thru the years from my TBW, TCS to my latest ARC-38 sets use modern design power supplies with no modifications to the radio itself so you are using the original radio but not with all of the original accessories. I challenge anyone to prove how my use of the radio can be improved by using original non regulated and often difficult to maintain dynamotors. My latest project is a solid state replacement inverter to swap out the dynamotor deck in an ARR-41 will keep original dyno deck intact and remove it from the radio in the event that I sell the radio but see no advantage to the noise, ware and vibration of using all original systems.
