Hello Groups,

I'm happy to report that after finding and fixing the wiring error in
the dynamotor, the US-9 receiver is healthy and functioning well; it
was already used on the air during the US East Coast Old Military
Radio Net last night (80 M CW).

Judging by the performance (by ear) it doesn't need any tune-up at this time.

While working on it, the interesting observation is that all the tubes
had 1979 manufacturing dates, with the date of retubing the receiver
handwritten with silver ink on each tube: June 1982. (My US-9 was
manufactured in 1962). The tubes are the Russian versions of the
standard metal-octal tubes used in the BC-348R, with the exception of
the local oscillator tube which is a triode-connected equivalent of
the 6SJ7 tube (the BC-348R uses the 6C5 triode). Also, the US-9 uses a
standard voltage regulator (octal) tube unlike the BC-348 which uses a
small bulb-like regulator.

Another fact is that the standard BC-348 shock mount and power plug
fit the US-9 with no problems, so I dedicated one of my BC-348 mounts
to co-exist with the Russian receiver.

Wishing all a Happy New Year.
