[Milsurplus] Questions about the Collins 18S and 618* equipment

I have both 618S and ARC-38A  radios and have been using a 168S on the air now for a couple years. I did use the 144 channel crystal pack for a while but now have a PTO from a donor 38 that provides ability to tune the radio manually, lot of advantages to  QSY also it is amazing to watch the RF and IF slugs tune themselves as you change frequency. Maybe the only advantage of the crystal deck is the ability to watch the racks and rollers cycle when you change channels. Watching the radio work may be more fun than the QSO, have a ARC-55 that I want to get working next it has no possible use but lots of stuff that will be fun to watch.
