[Milsurplus] SCS-51

The recent discussion regarding the P-51's equipment caught my
interest as both an ex-pilot and ground instructor with a love of
navigation of all sorts.  After doing some reading, I learned that the
SCS-51 didn't come into service under that designation until 1945.
>From what I've read, it was called the RC-103 until then but I can't
find anything to lock down when it or any of the components thereof
first appeared in the field.  Any thoughts on this would be greatly
appreciated.
