Sounds like the old VRC-19 gear.
Back in the day we had the pleasure of getting a ton
of that surplused out to ARMY MARS and actually had
somewhat of an effective VHF State Wide availability
for the state of Alabama up and down (before I-65).
Hardest part was dealing with the 1.4V tubes like
the 1AD4 etc. Look at them wrong or fart in the room
and poof .... Hehehe. Tran used the 2E24 quick heat
but we'd sometimes put the T-416 transmitter in there
in it's place with the 5894. There was also an amplifier
we had to use with the smaller transmitter when we made
them into repeaters. Can't remember the number on that.
Had several repeaters up and down the state on
148.01/143.99. Actually worked pretty well for the time.
Was a lot of fun (for me) tinkering and there were
tons of the stuff so you could have the pick of the litter.

Have very heavy weatherproof snap-sealed OD box. Evidently an FM
set from the 50s. Inside are three extractable units. Two with
familiar "tee-s", one with pull-bar. 115 p-s, a tx, and a rx.
Outside is mounted a Radio Control C847 box that has a speaker and a
H-33 mic attached.
Weighs perhaps 110#. Seems like gi-strength base stn.
Scrap yard will give 10cts/#. So anyone with $11 & gasfor trip to
Newnan, GA gets it 1st.
Have few pictures
I'll see it's held for a week
Marty
