Hate to burst your bubble.....

WIOD still has coverage into North Africa and into South Affrica!  Army trops listened to them and a station in Pittsburgh, PA.
They covered the entire Atlantic theater.  The reason YOU had neverheard about it it was HIGHLY Classified information.  I knw nothing ofit till I worked there!  If you care to call the station manager atWIOD, I am sure he will confirm for you. WIOD was picked as the sendingpoint  because of their wide coverage and superior ground with theantenna sitting in the Atlantic Ocean.  Subs only had to get theirsmall receiving antenna above the water to get 100% RTTY copy. Critical information was sent nightly to the Atlantic Fleet.
