Mike is indeed correct about the APS-13 vice the APN-1; I have the modules
of both in the same drawer. The 955 'acorn' tubes seem to do well on 440
MHz and I have an unmarked piece of mil surplus gear that uses a pair of
955s and a pair of 1D8s to align/monitor/service/??? the APN-1 units. It
is a regenerative receiver of some kind and covers a large chunk of the
spectrum.

Now, who remembers a 500 KHz transmitter, bout 8 inches wide, 12 inches
tall, 8 inches deep, that put out a terribly raucous (sp?) squawk from
mechanically interrupting the DC to the plate circuit? I think I may have
the front plate stored somewhere

Thanks for the reminder, Mike!
