[Milsurplus] Tube tester TV-7BU

G'day list... a  problem ?--- testing tubes like 6L6 and 6CA7 in the octal
socket, I get more than full scale readings. Ok with 6V6 tho.
Tubes test OK for no gas, and the manual suggests that the  circuit may be
oscillating testing high gain tubes--- solution was to dress leads to the
socket until oscillation disappears.
Haven't done that yet but has anyone been this way before with what answer?
