[Milsurplus] Bendix TA-12 Question and antique cars?

The Bendix TA-12 has a motorized channel change system, and the motor in
mine
is fried. Looks like it ran too long with voltage applied with the shaft
stalled, as
the area around the commutator looks burned. So I'm looking for a
replacement.
(I didn't do it, it was that way when I got it, honest!)
The manual simply says under description, 12V, Windshield wiper.
So was there a universal wiper motor for cars back in the late30s early
40s. Were
there any 12 cars back then?
Anyway, any ideas on finding a replacement? The motor out of the TA-12 says
it was made by Electric Cleaner Laboratories, Brooklyn, NY, but no part
numbers other
than the Bendix Reference no 110K/9 (which looks like a British A/M
type number to me).
The Bendix part number is AL72185-1, just in case someone has one a
shelf that they don't know
what it goes to.
Thanks
