Jack,
Minor correction. The ground version is SCR-624-A or SCR-624-B. Otherwise
you are of course correct. The radio itself is the only example I can recall
that has no nomenclature of its own. The receiver, transmitter, selector rack
and case all have nomenclature but not the assembly. FWIW, although the 24
volt SCR-522 is by far the most common, the radio itself is all 12 volt. But
ever since they were first surplused, both dealers, writers and buyers have been
calling the standalone radio "SCR-522".
In any case, were it a complete SCR-624 a price of $2500 isn't that much
above what several have sold for. Several years ago, I got about $1000 for one
that only had part of the antenna system.
The DF variants are the SCR-566 and SCR-645.
