[Milsurplus] SCR-522 and TAJ on ebay

One point to make here on the crated *SCR-522" on eBay.

It is NOT an SCR-522. It is an SCR-642 which is the
ground transportable version of the set. Probably the only
component the SCR-642 and -522 have in common is the
transmitter/receiver unit. Very few, if any, of the other items in the
shipping chests would have any use in an aircraft installation.

Also, it is not the complete SCR-642. You would need the mast
and antenna to make it a complete set. I'm not sure if it was
a part of the SCR-642 or not, a generator to supply power.

There are at least two other sets that use the same T/R unit, the
SCR-542 which is a 14V version of the SCR-522, and an SCR-something
which is a ground transportable direction finder system. In all these
cases the T/R unit itself is exactly the same unit.

The confusion comes about as many people refer to the T/R unit
as an SCR-522, when in fact it just one component of that set.
It is understandable though, as there is no one designation that
covers the T/R unit as a complete component.
