Well, everyone is certainly entitled to an opinion.  Over the course of 
now approaching 40 years in being an intimate part of the design of 
similar quick reaction kludges for Defense requirements, I'm totally 
unrepentant...   :-D   Indeed, the very backbone of the current service 
oriented architecture effort that we are deploying in the pursuit of 
information superiority for our troops is very much kludge-oriented, 
depending on interoperable standards for its success.  Rapid 
composibilty (in seconds, or minutes at the most) of complex systems is 
the key, and the goal is still the same as it was in WWII - ensuring the 
success of and saving the  lives of our combat troops.  There are a 
number of parallels here with the C-131/AR effort.  However, since it's 
election eve and emotions are high, I'll suppress my inclination to pen 
a lengthy reply and just part with a 73 & best wishes...heh, heh....
