In regard to my term "upgrades" in discussing the subject installations, we have for example, in our PB2Y-5R Coronado two ATC transmitters and two BC-348 receivers which directly replaced a GO-9 and two GF/RU sets. This upgrade apparently was done when the original PB2Y-3 was modified into a PB2Y-5R transport. An ARB was retained for use with a ZB-3. Two BC-433-G radio compass receivers were also installed probably at the same time. Note that these receivers were US Army Signal Corps supplied. Also, at the pilot's station there was an SCR-522 control box but no other equipment for this installation was on board.
Here are some strange items on this aircraft: One T47/ART-13 is a modified ATC while the other transmitter was built as a T47/ART-13. One dynamotor is a DY-12/ART-13 and the other is a CJP-23333 with CWD-21932 marked as part of ATC-1. The two pilot's control boxes for the transmitters are a C-87 and the ATC version, CJP-23330. For tuning the trailing wire antenna there is a CJP-47281 of ATC-1. We found a base plate and shock mount for an LM frequency meter which was not installed because of the ATC's capability to accurately tune to a frequency. There were two CU-24/ART-13 antenna shunt capacitors also provided. There was a DPDT manual antenna change over switch so either ATC transmitter could be connected to the trailing wire or to the above fuselage wire antenna.
In conclusion, it seems the ET's put in what ever was available at the time of the modifications.
