Friday I ran the GRC-9 inside the Vehicle but on Saturday set up on the
hood. Saturday I used the 32 foot AT-1011 antenna and used a "captured"
Chinese 139 set as a liaison receiver. I posted a small sign on the 139 set
declaring it a "hands on" display, it was interesting to watch folks that
would come up to the vehicle and play with the radio and listen to some
"short wave" signals. I also had the PRC-47 available for SSB and CW as
well as the usual FM gear on the 51.0 push.
I picked up a nice BC-348M, unaltered for 60 bucks, a WWII Officer Chest in
excellent condition complete with drawers and even the key for $50. Found
cables for my C2299/VRC system to run the 524 from the front of the vehicle,
found lots of aircraft stuff for my "flak bait" display etc. The most
unusual items I was were Dave's BC-1000 test sets and some kind of special
cable which I assume was to be used to power the BC-1000 on the bench.
Speaking of BC-1000's Tom Bryan brought his Czech RUP-1(I hope I got the
right country), the set looks just like a BC-1000 and it covers six meters
without any modifications, just turn the dial to 51.0.
