It was the standard meter to be found in the field as well
as in the shops.  Right, the 1000 Ohm per Volt was to make
it compatible with the tech manuals.  And, and all the ones
I ever saw, and that's a lot while in the USAF, were gray.
Maybe black was USN.   They relate to the PSM-6,  which
never should have been put into a metal case, or use those
weird batteries.
