Hi,
The ARC-4 I am working on is a warmup for 2 on battleship MASSACHUSETTS and one on submarine LIONFISH. I plan on installing mine in my car, so that if I want to make a contact, I can set up a buddy on my TDQ at home and drive away while I talk to base, HI.
I'm hoping to place a TDQ on NEW JERSEY. I should be able to work them from home.
We will be able to use the ARC-4s or the TDQ/RCK pairs on MASSACHUSETTS to work the URT-7/URR-21 pair on JOSEPH P. KENNEDY, JR. once we complete some system integration work.
I have enough local ham buddies through the New Jersey Antique Radio Club to get 2m AM action.
In the absence of terrain, a pair of ARC-4s ought to be ok at 25 miles, or the Kingfisher would have a hard time spotting 16-inch gunfire.
I heard the first words through my ARC-4 receiver this weekend. It was especially cool since they were, "Hi papa", from my 5-year-old on the TDQ(with dummy load).
