The British had a liking for regulating the input to their radios, at least in
the early days.

The T.1154 / R.1155 used something called a "Londex" relay to do exactly that,
dropping the 28 V input to 20 V for the dynos (or 14 V to 10 V). The dynos even
has a LV output for the filaments.
